Bible study for iPhone and iPad
A Bible study library that works without a connection
Biblio keeps the Bibles, lexicons, commentaries and reference works on your iPhone or iPad. Read the King James Version, tap a word for the Greek or Hebrew behind it, and read the commentary and cross references beside the verse. There is no account, no advertising and no tracking.
For iPhone and iPad with iOS 26 or later. Coming to the App Store.
Read
Five Bibles built in, twenty more to download
Built in: the King James Version and the Berean Standard Bible, both tagged with Strong’s numbers, the World English Bible, the Hebrew Westminster Leningrad Codex and the SBL Greek New Testament. Twenty more are free downloads, among them the American Standard Version, Young’s Literal Translation, the 1599 Geneva Bible, two more Greek New Testaments, and Bibles in Arabic, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish.
Read in paragraphs or one verse to a line, with the words of Jesus in red, or set two to four translations side by side. You can also import Bibles, commentaries and dictionaries of your own from several common module formats.
Greek and Hebrew
The original word under every tagged English word
Tap a word in the King James Version, the Berean Standard Bible or the Hebrew and Greek texts for its lemma, transliteration and parsing, definitions from several lexicons, how that Bible renders it (when you tap the Hebrew or Greek text itself: the translation open in the reader, or your default Bible if the reader shows the Hebrew or Greek too), and every occurrence, charted by book.
Built-in lexicons: Strong’s Greek and Hebrew, Dodson, Abbott-Smith and Brown-Driver-Briggs. Free downloads add Liddell-Scott-Jones for the Greek words of the Bible and two semantic-domain dictionaries of Biblical Hebrew and New Testament Greek.
Interlinear
Each phrase over the words it translates
The interlinear follows the Berean Standard Bible through all 66 books: the English phrase on top, then the Hebrew, Aramaic or Greek, its transliteration, its Strong’s number and its parsing. Tap any word for its word study.
Study
Commentary and cross references beside the verse
The study pane follows the verse you are reading: commentary, cross references, other translations, the original words, your notes, dictionary articles and places. On iPad it sits beside the text; on iPhone it opens from the verse.
Built in: Matthew Henry’s Concise Commentary, Jamieson-Fausset-Brown, the Tyndale Open Study Notes, the Treasury of Scripture Knowledge, about 340,000 cross references ranked by reader votes, four Bible dictionaries including Easton’s and Smith’s, and two topical indexes. Free downloads add nine commentaries, among them Matthew Henry’s complete commentary, Clarke, Barnes, Keil and Delitzsch and Calvin, the International Standard Bible Encyclopedia, and Nave’s and Torrey’s topical Bibles.
Search
Words, references and Strong’s numbers
Search one Bible or all of them, or the commentaries, dictionaries, lexicons, topics and your own notes. Match all words, any word, a phrase or word beginnings, in the whole Bible, one testament or the books you choose, and see how the results fall across the books. Greek and Hebrew match with or without accents and vowel points.
Journal
Highlights, notes and verses to learn by heart
Highlight whole verses or a few words, in colors you can name. Write notes in Markdown on a passage or a topic, keep bookmarks in folders, tag verses and retrace your reading history. The Journal gathers all of it and finds it again by a word or a reference.
Memorize verses with spaced repetition, practicing with first letters, blanks or typing, and keep a prayer list with reminders and answered prayers.
Today
A verse, two devotionals and seven reading plans
A verse of the day, Spurgeon’s Morning and Evening, Daily Light on the Daily Path, and seven reading plans, from the M’Cheyne calendar and a chronological Bible in a year to the Gospels in 30 days, with daily reminders if you want them. Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets show the verse of the day.
Places
More than 1,300 places named in the Bible
Each place comes with a description and the verses that name it. A chapter’s places appear on a map and in a list, in the order the chapter mentions them. The list works offline; the map itself comes from Apple Maps and needs a connection.
Listen and read comfortably
Read aloud, six themes and type for every eye
Have the text read aloud by the voices on your device, with a sleep timer and controls on the Lock Screen. Choose from six themes, including sepia, green and black, or let the theme follow the system’s light and dark mode, and from Atkinson Hyperlegible and OpenDyslexic for low vision and dyslexia. Text size and line spacing are adjustable, and the app supports Dynamic Type, VoiceOver, multiple windows on iPad and keyboard shortcuts.
Private
Your notes stay yours
No account, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking. Everything you add is stored on your device and, when iCloud is on, in your private iCloud database, which the developer cannot read. Export a backup file whenever you like. The privacy policy says exactly when the app uses the network.
